A project
straight from the heart. Our client saw a
friend’s heart-shaped end tables and looked
everywhere for identical pieces. Not finding
any, she commissioned us to build similar
tables, with modifications. The original
heart-shaped table top became rounded and the
legs more delicate to flow better to the floor.
Since the design included no straight or square
edges, a custom jig was constructed to hold the
legs secure and in the proper orientation during
gluing.
The tables are made of pine to
match the floors, walls, and ceilings of the
client’s country style home. The stain matches
existing millwork, consisting of three coats of
clear, water-based urethane. Slotted mounting
screw holes allow the top to expand and contract
with changes in temperature and humidity,
avoiding cracking and splitting. Table tops
measure 24”w x 30”h.
